What is DTF printing?
DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing is a process where designs are printed onto a special PET film using DTF ink (pigment-based ink). A layer of hot-melt adhesive powder is applied to the printed film, which is then heat-cured to activate the adhesive.
Once cured, the film is placed on the garment and heat-pressed. After pressing, the film is peeled off, leaving the design bonded to the fabric.
This method works well on various types of fabrics and offers vibrant, durable prints.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the maximum printable area in DTF printing?
The maximum printable area is 16 x 18 inches.
2. Why do white lines or patches appear in the print?
White lines or patches may appear if the design file contains extra empty pixels (transparent space) around the artwork or smoky/fade effects. In such cases, the adhesive powder sticks to those unwanted areas and gets transferred during heat pressing.
3. What is the cost per square inch for DTF printing?
Per square inch cost: ₹0.75
Minimum printing charge: ₹80 per print
Sleeve or pocket prints: ₹50 each
4. How is the DTF printing cost calculated?
Use the formula below to calculate the DTF printing cost:
Formula:
Total Print Area (in sq. inches) × ₹0.75 = Print Cost
If the result is less than ₹80, the minimum charge of ₹80 applies.
Example 1:
Print size: 8 x 8 inches = 64 sq. inches
64 x ₹0.75 = ₹48
Since ₹48 is less than the minimum charge, you pay ₹80
Example 2:
Print size: 12 x 12 inches = 144 sq. inches
144 x ₹0.75 = ₹108
Since ₹108 is more than the minimum, you pay ₹108
5. What is the cost for sleeve or pocket printing in DTF?
Left sleeve, right sleeve, left pocket, or right pocket: ₹50 each
